I’ve spent years inside this industry, working in small private studios and franchise studios. Each one teaching me something about how this craft can go wrong. The further I went, the more I realised that somewhere along the way, tattooing had started to lose its soul.
I’ve seen studios that looked the part… polished, clean, Instagram-perfect… but empty on the inside. I’ve seen artists who once lived for the tattoo industry burn out chasing followers and quick cash. I’ve seen clients walk in expecting a product instead of an experience. And through it all, I’ve learned one thing — tattooing deserves better.
Heresy was never meant to fit into the mould. I didn’t build it to be another shop on the high street or a conveyor belt for walk-ins offering buy now pay later. I built it because I was tired of watching something sacred get diluted. I wanted a space that belonged to tattoo artists… people who actually give a shit about their work, about their clients, and about the energy that goes into every design.
This place isn’t for everyone. It’s not meant to be. Heresy is for the people who want a fucking amazing tattoo. For the ones who understand that this isn’t a transaction… it’s transformation.
I’ve never cared about keeping up with inflated studio rates, the circus that surrounds this industry now or tattoo schools… The truth is, I do this for the craft and the love of the process.
When I created Heresy, I wanted every part of it to reflect that energy! From the atmosphere, to the music, to the artists themselves.
Every artist here has their own voice, their own vision. We don’t tell people how to work… we give them the space to create. Because great tattoos don’t come from rules or ego. They come from freedom, trust and a passion that never gets switched off.
Heresy is proof that you can still build something real in an industry that’s becoming increasingly fake. You can still hold onto the principles that matter and a respect for the industry. I’d rather tattoo one person who truly values what we do than a hundred who just want to tick a box.
Every tattoo that leaves this studio carries our name, our pride, and our standards. It’s not just a tattoo! It’s everything we stand for.
This is more than a business. It’s a rebellion against the state of the tattoo industry… Artists paying most of their income for kitchen towel… clients paying above and beyond for some lowlife that picked up a machine 6 weeks ago…
It’s a reminder that this craft still has soul if you’re willing to bleed for it.
